    SUMMER 2010

A recent event at
Nemours, Alfred I. Dupont's
1910
Estatebrought together a capacity crowd of sixty members from the D.C., Maryland,
New York and Philadelphia Chapters for a memorable evening.
  Docents escorted groups
of 6 through the 77 room mansion, providing facinating details of the furnishings, architectural details and art works that have drawn comparisons to those at Versailles.
Even the garage was worth a visit to see vintage cars, including a 1924 Cadillac and a
1960 Rolls-Royce Phamtom V.  The cars had keys in their ignition but unfortunately, the batteries had been removed.
Dinner followed at the beautiful Greenville Country Club, thanks to their member and IFDA member, Lee Kallas.

From Carl David, owner of owner of David David Gallery in Philadelphia, who hosted a May event for our Chapter:  " Peter Jacoby is highly skilled in his field and has the credentials to support his expertise. The state of the art technology he demonstrated is particularly appropriate for our industry as we are serious and constant consumers of light energy. Our business depends upon correct illumination with regard to color, temperature and beam focus.  Of special interest is the LED technology which can now provide accurate color rendition with no heat buildup or glare while utilizing a fraction of the energy of the quartz halogen bulbs. The other advantage of the LED fixtures is that they have an extraordinary life expectancy of many years. A most enjoyable event, it was a pleasure to have met the IFDA members, a lovely group of people with whom it would be a pleasure to work.  I am going to join this organization very soon."

In her own words...

Noreen Dunn, President of Dunn Design Partners, Inc.

"We are very pleased with the IFDA Purchase Advantage  Program and our designers have found it to be a valuable resource. New lines are added all the time and I discovered several new lines when I started using the program. So far, we have ordered from Stanley Furniture, Hooker, and Pearson Upholstery. The pricing, delivery times, and communication with the representatives have made the experience very easy.  We used McDaniels Furniture Services for delivery; they offer a 15%  discount. I recommend buying directly from the manufacturer byutilizing the PAP program; no minimums make it possible to make a considerable profit."
