INTERNATIONAL FURNISHINGS & DESIGN ASSOCIATION’S 2003 NATIONAL CONFERENCE

The International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) is pleased to announce its 2003 National Conference themed, 21st Century Business: Consumers, Connections and Communications. To be held November 6-8, 2003 at the Radisson Resort and Spa in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona, IFDA is inviting its attendees to enjoy education – resort style!

"This year’s conference promises a wealth of inspirational speakers, panels and activities with information to improve your business, market your services and make effective presentations," said Conference Committee Chair, Karen Wirrig. "The Conference will also provide updates on the latest in design and lifestyle in the new millennium."

IFDA’s Universal Design Panels will address the growing need for modifying living and working spaces to meet the lifespan needs of consumers, regardless of ability, from the different perspectives of consumer, contractor, manufacturer, designer and architect. The Multicultural Marketing Panel will feature professionals from the Latino, Asian, and African-American communities and focus on connecting with the changing face of the U.S. consumer. These panels are not to be missed by anyone engaged in any aspect of home furnishings products and services for both residential and commercial applications.

"These topics are of such timely importance,” claims Wirrig, “they inform our members of demographic trends to stimulate planning for future product and services to the fastest-growing segment of the market."

Several of our speakers include:

  • Fred Berns, President, Power Promotions: "Methods of the Masters – Aligning with Other Professionals." Tap into the power of networking.
  • Michael Savoie, President, Tailored Knowledge: "Speak Up! - Improve Your Public Speaking and Presentation Skills."
  • Terri Bowersock, President & CEO, Terri’s Consign and Design: "Design Your Success" Learn how to formulate a winning business plan.
  • Dr. Stephanie deLusé, deLusé Enterprises: "Making Better Decisions More Easily." Cut through life’s clutter to make better decisions.

The latest in lifestyle and color trends will be presented by Emmanuelle Linard, one of Europe’s most prestigious forecasters and Charla Lawton, managing editor of InStyle magazine will provide the inside scoop on why Americans are obsessed with celebrities and how they live, dress and play influences all aspects of the industry.

IFDA’s Special Event this year will be held at Frank Lloyd Wright’s beautiful Taliesin West. A spectacular reception at Sunset Point will be followed by the group’s private guided tour "Nightlights on the Desert" lead by the expert staff at Taliesin. Plus, new this year, IFDA will offer a "Jewels of the Desert" vendor showcase during the Conference to reveal some special local resources.

The Conference will also include a Welcome Reception for Conference attendees, transportation to the Art Walk and the traditional Gala Celebration honoring this year’s Trailblazer Award recipient, Fellows and the Chapter’s Unsung Heroes.

IFDA would like to thank its Platinum Sponsor, 3M, for their support and dedication to the association and this year’s National Conference.
