Membership Categories

IFDA offers two different membership categories for new members – Professional and Student.

Professional Members include full-time managers or executives in the furnishings or design industry; or whose function deals with the design industry exclusively. Others include managers, supervisors, executives or associates who work in a design related field; or who spend less that 50 percent of their time in the design industry. (Membership term is a calendar year.)

Student Members: Individuals who are currently enrolled and continue to be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a field related to the design and furnishings industry and not currently working full-time in the design and furnishing field are eligible for Student Membership in the Association. Valid student ID must accompany application, as well as declared major and intended year of graduation. (Membership term is a calendar year).

IFDA also offers two additional membership options for renewing members – Retired and Junior Executive.

Retired Members are any IFDA member in good standing, for a minimum of 5 years, who has retired from active business and request retired status from the Worldwide Headquarters. (Membership term is a calendar year)

Junior Executive Members are student members who have just graduated from an accredited program of higher education in a field related to the design and furnishings industry. Note: Individuals must have been a Student Member of IFDA for at least one year prior to graduation. Jr. Executive members are eligible to participate in our mentor program within your Chapter designed to connect you directly with industry leaders in your area. (Membership term is one calendar year.)
