Color Perception and Psychology

Color is considered a powerful design tool in the built environment. Decisions related to color are best made with scientific knowledge of the attributes of color. This course highlights how perception of color directs human response in behavior and emotion. It demonstrates how perception is influenced by personal experiences and cultural identifications. The meaning of color as it has changed over time and place is explored, concluding with future directions.

This course has been approved by IDCEC (Interior Design Continuing Education Council), for 0.2CEUs for ASID, IDC, IDEC and IIDA. (A one-hour version of this program is available as a non-IDCEC course.)

Accessories: Style & Substance

This is a visual journey that treats the category of accessories not as an afterthought, but as a significant component of the design process. Functional and decorative items, from fine arts to hardware, are explored plus insights into display and grouping. The psychology behind "collecting" is yet another facet to this PowerPoint presentation.
